Who should use Matthews Fine Art?
If you are interested in building a collection, finding a specific artwork to purchase, or selling a collection or a specific artwork then we can help whether you are an individual, company or artworld professional. We can also assist in finding a suitable appraiser, advising on insurance for your artwork, finding the right conservator, cataloguing your artwork and arranging transportation.
What is the process to determine if Matthews Fine Art is right for me?
First we will conduct a no-cost phone consultation and ask you some basic questions to get a feel for your needs, whether you are interested in buying or selling artwork. Once we get a clear understanding of how we can help we will assign an Associate to work directly with you. The Associate will manage your project and will provide ongoing feedback on progress.
If I want to sell art is there a certain amount of work I need to offer?
No, we have worked with clients who only wanted to sell a single artwork to those whom we have assisted in selling entire collections consisting of hundreds of pieces of art.
If I want to buy art is there a certain amount of work I need to purchase?
No, we can help if you are looking for a single artwork or want to build an entire collection.
What are the costs?
There are no fees for a phone consultation to determine if we can assist you. All project fees are based on the scope of the project. Fees can either consist of an hourly rate, a commission or a combination depending on the nature of the project and your budget.
Who are your Associates?
They have experience as gallerists, private dealers, art consultants, conservators, appraisers, auction house professionals, insurance specialists and art transportation handlers. As a group they represent 100’s of years of art expertise. Associates are matched with you based on your specific requirements.

What avenues do you use to sell artwork?
We arrange sales using peer-to-peer private transactions; through relevant and vetted galleries; through online art sale venues and auction houses. Before a method is recommended we determine which best fits your requirements. We continually monitor information from private and art market sources maintaining an up to the minute database of available works and interested buyers. Better information means increased opportunities and of course, you have the ultimate say in how the work is sold and at what price.
What avenues do you use to assist in the purchase of artwork?
We conduct searches with our extensive worldwide network of private sellers, gallerists and auction houses to find what is currently available and what might be coming available in the future. Often, artwork is sold privately before it gets to the attention of the general public and this can be a great opportunity to find significant artworks.
